All About Me

My name is Mrs. Laurie Adams.  I grew up and graduated in Milbank, SD with my husband Bob.  We have been together since 10th grade!  I have two younger brothers, LaRon and Laramie.  I graduated from USD in 1990.  I taught 1st grade in Brandon for 18 years.  This is my fourth year as a 2nd grade teacher.  I LOVE it!!  I live in Brandon with my husband Bob and four children Hannah (college), Jacob(11th grade), Gracie(7th grade), and Jackson is 6 years old and a 1st grader at RBE.  We have a cat named Tilly and a dog named Rustie.

Our family is very involved in athletics here in Brandon.  Bob is Gracie's softball and basketball coach, along with working at Citibank full time.  He has also coached league and travel baseball teams for both Jake and Gracie in the past. We traveled quite a bit last summer for Jake's baseball and Gracie's softball teams. Hannah is training to work at Bethany Meadows in Brandon and will be starting classes at South East Tech for nursing.  Jacob will be playing varsity football, basketball, and baseball during the school year.  Gracie has her black belt in TKD and plays volleyball, basketball, and her favorite sport, softball. Jackson was involved in swimming lessons and baseball this summer.  He loves any kind of balls, being outside, BUGS, and following the big "Kids" around!  I am the sport mom that washes their uniforms and cheers them on!  If I have any free time (ha, ha) I enjoy reading decorating magazines and parent magazines, watching NCIS and Criminal Minds, and shopping!  I tutored 13 students this past summer.  I will continue tutoring after school during the school year.

My favorites:  Color-red/pink; Foods-fish, steak, and chocolate; Treat:  popcorn with M&M's; Vacation-Disney World/cabin at the lake; Movies-action/suspense and romance; T.V. shows-anything on the decorating, food, and action suspense; Season-all of them except for winter; Holidays-Halloween (love haunted houses), Thanksgiving (all the good food to eat!), and Christmas (decorations and lights); Children's book-"Baby Angels" and series "Magic Tree House" books.

I am greatful for my family, friends, church, and doctors who helped me become a cancer survivor!  Anyone going through this disease and needs to talk, I would be happy to visit with them.  I am currently a "Think Pink Lady" for Avera Cancer Institute.  I will be busy doing many cancer activities through-out the year ending with the "Breast Cancer Race" in May.

I'm looking forward to fabulous school year.  Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.  School 582-8010 or e-mail at Laurie.Adams@k12.sd.us.
